January Happenings

I realize that my posts these days are not full of fun and excitement.  I guess this is one of those times where are heads are down and we're pushing through our days.  Don't get me wrong, we have fun, we laugh, life is certainly not horrible.  But there's not a lot of excitement to blog about.  Covid has been here way too long and it makes it hard to get out and do.  Combine that with business for Jake and it feels almost impossible to get out and do.  We were supposed to go to Mexico in January.  We should have gotten home two days ago.  Ended up canceling because of Covid.  They made it so anyone coming into the US from out of the country has to have a negative Covid test.  We just couldn't risk getting stuck in Mexico.  So it was canceled.  And there were a lot of tears.  I've rescheduled flights for the end of October.  Praying that we can travel by then.

Zack has been working a lot at Soldier Hollow.  He stands outside in the cold for hours.  I could never do it.  Before this job he was never cold, but I think it's wearing him down.  Now he hates being out in the cold.  We finally went tubing at Soldier Hollow.  It was a company event and it was great fun!  I always assumed it was touristy so the tubing wouldn't be that fast.  Nope.  It's really fast and really fun.  I highly recommend it.  Zack was working that night, so we got to give him a hard time.  He loved it.  He works like 30 hours/week.  With school.  I'm trying to get him to ask for more days off, but he won't.  Guess we'll see how his grades are after working that much.

Sage complained to me about her knee.  Sage complains about every ache and pain, so I thought nothing of it.  She finally got Jake to look at it and it was swollen with a big bump.  Oops.  We figured out she has Osgood Schlatter Disease.  Basically your tendon starts to pull off your knee cap as you're growing.  It can be painful, and occur more than once.  She had to take a break from dancing and do some physical therapy.  Gratefully her knee responded well and she's back to dancing all the time.  Literally.

Jake keeps working on the trailer.  He knows it has to be done so we can use it in the spring/summer.  He's mad we're not all excited to help him.   I cannot wait for it to be done.  For a lot of reasons.  But, as with all things Jake does, it will be amazing when it's done.  I'm sure many people will have trailer envy.  I told Jake if he sells it he'll have to live in the barn.

Kate's babysitting and riding the Peloton a lot so she can be ready for mountain biking.  She wishes she was old enough to have a job.  I hate this in between age.  It's so hard to earn money!  I just got called as YW President.  I'm excited to be in there when Kate and Sage are.  I'm trying to wrap my brain around everything.  It's only taken two Sundays to realize that Sunday boredom is a thing of the past.

Sage at her first knee appointment.  See the bump on her left knee?

I decided we needed donuts after we found out we couldn't go to Mexico

Crown Burgers with the whole family!  I love it when Mel comes to town!

Every night, every weekend

But it's looking good!

This happened.  A mullet.  Better than the bush he had.

Tubing at Soldier Hollow

Zack working.  He stands at the top of the lift and walks on it to stay warm.  Imagine being out there for 8 hours!  Freezing!
