Crazy Sage

This is what Sage looks like all day every day.  She has some weird shoes on and a shirt on backwards.  I promise I do her hair, but by the end of the day all signs of former hairstyling are gone.  We got her this little boot scoot bike and she loves it.  She cruises all over the neighborhood on it.  I'll have to get a video of her goin' crazy.  It's pretty funny.  She loves to be outside and has recently discovered neighbor kids to play with.  Its all I can do to keep her from taking off down the street.  She is definitely quite the character.

St George Bliss

I bet all two of you are dying to know what I did last weekend.  I know, quit the suspense.  Well, Jake and I went to St George.  Notice I said just Jake and I.  That's because the kids were not invited.  Thanks to wonderful family who took care of the kids for the weekend, Jake and I were able to go on a real vacation.  It was blissful.  We stayed at Greg and Tracy's house and did whatever we wanted.  Ride bikes in 40mph wind?  No problem.  Sleep until 8:00?  No problemo.  Eat dinner at 8pm?  Who cares?  Did we do anything super crazy and exciting?  Not really.  We just did what we wanted with no input from kids.  We must be getting old if that's all we ask for.  Love our kids.  I promise we're not bad parents.  Those with kids understand I'm sure.

And yes, Jake did a triathlon while we were there.  I worked up a sweat watching him.  He swam a mile, biked 20, and ran 6.  He did a fantastic job.  Managed to get 5th in his age group.  All in a day's work for him really.  I cheered loud and did my usual poor job of taking pics.  Here are a few though.

By the way, I keep trying to put cute captions under my pics like everyone else does and I can't figure it out.  I was told I just need to right-click on the picture, but when I do adding a caption is not an option.  Can anyone help me out?

What We Do In Midway

This is what we do in the evenings in Midway.  There are tons of trails minutes from our house.  Jake and Zack mountain bike while the rest of us hike.  It is good times.  Might I add that my kids are excellent hikers.  Love it.  Don't you wish you lived here?

Happy Birthday Mom! (and Mother's Day too)

Thinking of my mom as always, but especially yesterday and today.  I hope she's doing something fun:)  Maybe touring another world or something cool like that.  Love you Mom!

For Linz

Four years ago today I got the phone call that changed everything.  Four years ago Linz left us.  So many things have happened in those four years, it feels more like a lifetime.  I still miss her and think of her often.  I think of her every time I comb Sage's hair, because Linz's hair was white like Sage's.  I think of her when we're out doing fun things, because Linz was always doing fun things.

So this year, in honor of Linz, we're going to go on a little hike and enjoy the mountains that she loved.  And this year, I'm making a goal to document more of my little family's life in photos and on this blog.  I've always been super bad at that, but I've got to change.  Linz always took so many pictures.  It helped so much to be able to look through them after she was gone.  Life can be shorter than we think and the last thing I want is to regret not taking more pictures.  So thanks Linz!  You're still inspiring me to be a better person!
